Supported Wi-Fi Hardware
Wireless Access Points
The following wireless access points/routers have been tested for use with the SoundBridge and SoundBridge Radio. While Roku is unable to provide testing results for all available wireless access point and routers, the vast majority will work fine with your SoundBridge product. We encourage you to try using your SoundBridge with your existing wireless equipment, regardless of published result before replacing your current hardware.
The current SoundBridge models, M1001 (connections on the back) and SoundBridge Radio R1000, use different wireless hardware than the older M1000, M500 and M2000 models (connections under the endcaps). This newer hardware has proven considerably more reliable than the older wireless hardware and should work out-of-the-box with virtually any 802.11b-compatible wireless equipment you may have. Compatibility of the older hardware has been improved over time and we recommend that you upgrade your SoundBridge's software to the latest version as soon as possible, particularly if your SoundBridge was delivered with software older than version 2.3.44. Upgrading older software may require using a wired ethernet connection or even taking your SoundBridge to a neighbors house or your office to sucessfully perform the upgrade.
To check your software version and perform an upgrade, use your SoundBridge remote control to navigate to the menu Change Library or Configuration -> System Configuration -> Software Version and Updates and follow the on-screen instructions.
If you still experience Wi-Fi connection problems, check the following items:
- Make sure your access point/router is configured to allow 802.11b devices to connect. This may be phrased as "Mixed mode" or "802.11b +802.11g".
- If you have wireless security enabled, make sure it is a supported protocol, and make sure you are using the "Hex" key. See your SoundBridge manual for more information.
If, after checking these items, you still cannot get your SoundBridge to connect to your wireless network, we encourage you to contact support or visit our Roku Community Forums where other customers and Roku employees will attempt to help you.
